When it comes to zombie games, State of Decay 2 is the pick of the horde. It has tons of action, plenty of zombies, and you feel 100 percent worthless, and terrible, when you witness a comrade get torn to pieces and eaten alive by the living dead – it truly is an unforgettable moment you’re sure to endure in State of Decay 2.

State of Decay 2 Field

Right off the bat, you should know that State of Decay 2 isn’t your typical “beat-up zombies all day long” event. In fact, it’s quite the opposite – though, there are plenty of instances in which you slay the walking dead time and time again. Instead, the latest State of Decay game mostly revolves around building a community, with each community member bearing some form of unique and personal background. Keeping these individuals alive, however, is a difficult task to accomplish, considering you must loot and grab items like ammo, food, and water to boost things like morale and good behavior. The last thing you want to do in this game is starve a well-equipped group of survivors.

As it stands, State of Decay 2 runs well on a Xbox One launch system.

Load times are adequate, and aside from a few pre-launch bugs which lead to character glitches and stutters, which I’m sure is to be ironed out via a day-one patch, the adventure through the zombie-infested wasteland is smooth. Connecting to online sessions, which is done by requesting help through radio waves, was something I had problem with, as I was unable to join game sessions after multiple attempts. My requests for help never arrived, which truly made me feel completely alone in such a deserted world. The silver-lining to this, however, is that I hope online sessions will be easier to connect to once the game officially launches.

The world in which you are allowed to travel and explore is incredibly huge. Places like abandoned gas stations, liquor stores, restaurants, and the like are completely at your disposal. Though, your safety through said areas are in no way, shape, or form a guarantee. For instance, entering into a building can go one of two ways: some doors easily open as if you had the key to the entrance, while others are locked, which means you have to smash your way through the door to enter. Doing this, however, posses a threat to your safety, as zombies are attracted to sound, light, and movement. Sometimes it’s easier to skip a particular building and move on rather than to disturb a large group of wandering zombies.

State of Decay 2 launches on Xbox One and PC on May 18 for those who pre-order the Ultimate Edition, while the standard version is scheduled to release on May 22. And for more on State of Decay 2, be sure to keep it right here, VG Newswire.
