Today Sony announced an impending shutdown date, August 15, 2017, for PlayStation Now on all devices aside from PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. PlayStation Now is a game streaming service that gives subscribers unlimited access to a catalog of PlayStation 3 games.

Devices affected by this shutdown include the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV, Sony Bravia TV models from 2013-2015, Sony Blu-Ray players, and all Samsung TVs. 2016 Sony Bravia TVs will lose access to the service even sooner, April 1, 2017.

Sony describes this move as a “shift of focus and resources” aimed to grow the service. Subscribers without access to or desire to use PlayStation Now on PS4 or PC are advised to manually disable auto renewal and ensure their subscriptions end before the shutdown dates. Your subscriptions will not automatically cancel even if you’ve only used legacy devices to access the service.
