Tonight Nintendo announced many new details about their upcoming console, Nintendo Switch. The system will launch on March 3, 2017 at $299.99. The console will include left and right Joy-Con controllers, wrist straps, Joy-Con grip, HDMI cable, AC adapter, and Switch dock. A pro controller is available separately. Two SKUs will be available at launch. One SKU will have grey controllers, and the other has a blue and red controller, but are otherwise identical.

A handful of new games were revealed for the Switch, including, 1, 2, Switch, Arms, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Warriors. The upcoming third party lineup includes Dragon Quest Heroes I & II, Project Octopath Traveler, Skyrim, and FIFA 18.

1, 2, Switch appears to be taking the “Wii Sports” position in the lineup, serving as minigames to acclimate players to the new hardware. Arms is a motion controlled boxing game boxing game, but this time your arms extend like Mr. Fantastic.

Splatoon 2 has a Summer 2017 scheduled release. Super Mario Odyssey was announced for a holiday 2017 window. The presentation ended with the reveal that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now set for a March 3 release alongside the Switch itself.

Other notable details revealed tonight include: The handheld reads NFC, so unsurprisingly Nintendo is planning on continuing their cash cow amiibo lineup. The Switch will not be region locked. Nintendo is introducing a paid online service, presumably similar in concept to Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus.
