According to a Eurogamer report, Rage 2, the latest development from id Software, will not have multiplayer and will instead include some form of “social component.”

In an interview at QuakeCon, Tim Willits of id Software told Eurogamer that “[Rage 2] will have a social component but it’s not your typical multiplayer”. Although the studio is aware of the need for multiplayer in this day and age, not to mention how important it is to the community, Willits would not go into exact details with Eurogamer during the interview.

As the interview continued, the outlet asked Willits regarding micro-transactions, to which the id Software studio head replied, “Ah… I don’t know yet.” Although he didn’t flat-out decline the existence of loot boxes in Rage 2, Willits did mention that the company is trying to “figure out how it will work” in the game.

Yesterday, Bethesda’s YouTube channel posted an extensive look at Rage 2, which actually looks really cool. You can see that video here.

There is no official release date for Rage 2, but it is expected to launch in Spring 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
