Playtonic Games on Monday revealed their latest creation, Yooka-Laylee, will no longer hit the Nintendo Wii U, and instead will pivot to the Nintendo Switch some time in 2017.
The transition from Wii U to Switch was lead to “unforeseen technical issues” which would have made a Wii U release “impossible”, according to Playtonic Games’ official website.
Those who have backed Yooka-Laylee via Kickstarter may exchange their Wii U code for another platform, free-of-charge, however, details on that procedure will be revealed in January 2017.
Playtonic Games has announced the official release date for Yooka-Laylee, which is scheduled to release on April 11, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and Linux.
More details on the Switch version of Yooka-Laylee are scheduled to be revealed next year, according to the game’s developer.
VG Newswire recently created a video preview for Yooka-Laylee, which that preview can be found on our official YouTube channel.
