Gears of War 4 gets the privilege of holding two spots in our 2016 Game of the Year awards, winning for Xbox One overall, and best co-op. We chose this title, because it revitalized the franchise with a mixture of new characters and series favorites, such as Marcus Fenix. Along with a story that shows how the world moved on after the war with the Locust and their return to destroying man, the co-op sticks to the tradition of previous installments and allows both online and split screen multiplayer. Along with this title comes with download codes for the original trilogy and Gears of War Judgement, so newcomers can get the opportunity to play the story from the beginning. With all this in mind, we choose Gears of War 4, as both our best Xbox One and Co-op game of 2016.

Xbox One Game of the Year nominees were rounded out by Rocket League and Forza Horizon. The other contenders for Best Co-Op were Killing Floor 2 and Overcooked. Which games would you have picked for these awards?
